Why We Chose Cryptocurrency

Our vision for humanitarian aid that cannot be stopped — transparent, decentralized, and accessible to all.

Vorwort

When Helping Becomes a Crime

In an ideal world, every person could help others without obstacles. Unfortunately, reality is different. In many conflict-affected regions — including Palestine — humanitarian aid faces massive structural barriers: frozen bank accounts, rejected transfers, and relief organizations obstructed from doing their work.

We are an international collective of volunteers — hundreds of people from over 20 countries — who have experienced these things firsthand. Not through the media, but ourselves. We watched as legitimate donations were frozen, and people willing to help were forced into silence by bureaucracy and political restrictions.

This painful experience is the driving force behind our decision: We need a way to help that no one can stop.

Cryptocurrency: The Solution

Cryptocurrencies like Bitcoin and Ethereum operate on decentralized networks — meaning no central bank, no government, and no single institution controls them. This is not just a technical feature but a humanitarian necessity.

When you donate with cryptocurrency, your transaction:

  • Cannot be frozen: No government or bank can block or freeze your transfer. The transaction goes directly from your wallet to the recipient.
  • Is fully transparent: Every transaction is permanently recorded on the blockchain — a public ledger that anyone can verify at any time. This guarantees a level of transparency no traditional banking system can achieve.
  • Is fast and global: No matter where you are — whether in Europe, the Middle East, or anywhere else — you can send your donation in minutes, not days.
  • Has low costs: No expensive bank fees or international transfer charges. More of your money actually reaches those in need.

The Problem with Traditional Donation Channels

Traditional bank transfers to conflict zones pass through multiple intermediaries. Each intermediary represents a potential point of control — a place where funds can be delayed, frozen, or seized. This is not theory but daily reality:

  • Banks refusing transfers to certain regions without giving clear reasons
  • Accounts of relief organizations suddenly closed
  • Donations held for weeks or months in "verification" processes
  • High transfer fees that reduce the amount that actually arrives

The result: Help doesn't arrive — or arrives far too late. In humanitarian crises, time means life.

Blockchain as a Foundation of Trust

One of the biggest concerns in the donation space is: where does my money actually go? With traditional banking systems, the answer is often unclear. But with blockchain, things are fundamentally different.

Every transaction on the blockchain is a permanent, public record. Anyone — anywhere, at any time — can verify for themselves that a donation has arrived. This is a level of transparency that was never before possible in humanitarian aid.

We believe that transparency is the strongest argument against distrust. That's why we rely on technology that makes transparency not just a promise but a verifiable reality.

Within a Legal Framework

It's important to clarify: everything we do takes place within the legal framework. Donating with cryptocurrency is legal in Germany, Europe, and many countries around the world. Every transaction is traceable and verifiable — and that's exactly what we want.

We are not seeking to evade oversight — we are seeking to remove unjust barriers that prevent legitimate humanitarian aid from reaching those in need. There is a fundamental difference between the two.

The transparency provided by blockchain actually means more oversight, not less — but oversight exercised by everyone, not just a single authority.

Our Vision

We dream of a world where humanitarian aid is a fundamental right — not a privilege that depends on geography or political decisions. A world where anyone can reach out to help anyone else, anywhere.

Cryptocurrency is not the only solution — but it's a powerful tool in this direction. It gives us the ability to act even when all traditional channels are closed. It gives donors the certainty that their money actually arrives.

We don't claim to have all the answers. But we believe we're heading in the right direction — toward humanitarian aid that is more just, more transparent, and more effective.
